Scorpio Full Moon Reflection: 'I give myself permission to release all shame around my sexual energy.'

I must admit that before I read the Full Moon illumination, I was prepared to talk about something else Scorpio-related, but when I noticed shame and sex intuition, I knew I wanted to run with this instead. When we think of Scorpio, we often consider 'sexual energy,' but usually in the mechanics of sex: how long, how fast, how hard, how many. I think this Full Illumination — and Scorpio at its highest — is interested in the metaphysics of sex. Esther Perel says, “Sex isn’t a thing we do but it’s a place we go.” That place is Scorpio, and this Full Moon wants the shame that stops you from going there.

Interestingly, I also think of 'shame' as a Scorpio-ruled topic. Shame — called the universal emotion by clinicians — drives the negative self-talk that makes us feel unworthy of pleasure, connection, joy and love. The less we name our shame, the more we have it. Dr. Brené Brown shares that shame grows in silence, secrecy and judgment. When we keep sex in shame, we don’t talk openly about it with those we trust — or with anyone. We stay secretive about our desires. We judge ourselves and others with punishing self-talk.

We could write a tome about why this is and how we got here, but in the interest of Scorpio bottom-lining, I think it’s incredibly important that we name and normalize the shame around our sexual energy — especially for those with racial, gender and sexual orientations that have been pathologized, policed or erased by dominant culture. Then we realize that our sexual energy connects us to the lifeforce, the vitality and the power we want to access when we’re in these really critical moments in our lives. And like that quote I mentioned earlier, we’re not just talking about sex as a thing we do — we’re talking about where we go. The emotional and psychic territory of Scorpio is vast. It’s where our deepest, complicated truths live. And want to be witnessed in intimacy. Free from silence, secrecy and judgment.

With the Full Moon opposing Uranus in Taurus and trining Saturn in Pisces, we’re being called back to the somatic and soulful dimensions of sex, where we don’t escape ourselves, but lose ourselves inside another with presence, honesty and surrender. This is the sexual energy as a space, not a strategy. This Full Moon asks us to go there with care. To meet ourselves in the places we’ve shut down and bring presence to what we’ve avoided. This Full Moon in Scorpio brings us back to what’s real. To the heat beneath the shame. To the pulse beneath the silence. It returns us to the truth of our desire and the trust that can grow when we stop hiding. When we meet ourselves here — with reverence, not rush — we remember that our erotic energy is sacred. Not a problem to solve, but a power to honor. This is a moment for deep permission. To feel what we feel. To want what we want. To tell the truth. To be seen. And in that seeing, to come home to something whole. Something alive. Something already ours.
