Libra Full Moon Reflection: 'I call back all the parts of me that have been left in past relations.'

The past doesn’t stay in the past — it travels with us into the present. And few places reflect the feeling of living in two time zones more powerfully than our romantic relationships. Not just because the caregiver bonds from childhood and the romantic relationships we experience as adults mirror each other so intensely — but because in love, we often exist in both the immediacy of now and the memory of who we once were and who we once loved.

We are the present-day partner and the former version of ourselves who first learned what love costs. We’re both the inner child who once felt powerless and the adult still learning how to have power with others. The annual Full Moon in Libra is our invitation to notice what parts of ourselves are still caught in the echo of a painful past connection. What did you give up to be loved? Who did you give up? Dr. Gabor Maté writes that, as children, we often trade authenticity for attachment. What parts of you were left behind to keep the peace? This is why the Full Moon illumination is both a remembering and a retrieving — calling back who we once were in past relationships. And it couldn’t come at a better time. 2025 opened with Mars retrograde, followed closely by Venus retrograde and then Mercury retrograde. The year has asked for both restraint and retrieval. Restraint where we’ve felt tempted to self-protect through suspicion and defensiveness. Retrieval in the sense of remembering a braver, more open version of ourselves — one that dared to begin again.

This is what I love about the Aries-Libra axis. It reminds us that the Aries-ruled Self is always shaped in Libra-ruled relationships. I am me because of we. And I become more and more myself through the love I give and receive in the we. So if there’s a version of 'me' that needs to be bravely brought from the past into the present, this is the Full Moon to do it. Let the 'we' mirror back the part of you that you thought was long gone. Because if I’ve learned anything through spiritual study, it’s that healing is less about learning and more about unlearning. So here we are — unlearning and remembering, in relationships. And with Venus and Mercury both retrograde in Pisces trining Mars and the post retrograde phase in Cancer, this is a Full Moon that balances the present and the past while inspiring us to love more bravely in the present, to remember who we were before the heartbreak, the betrayal, the disappointment. The part of you that still believed. The part that still wanted. The part that was still willing to try. Call them back this Full Moon. They're still yours.

So if this Full Moon brings up déjà vu from the past, let it speak. If a past version of you comes rushing back — braver, softer, messier, more whole — don’t reject yourself. That self from the past may be the missing piece to your present power. It asks you to reclaim the self that was left behind in it. Libra teaches us that balance isn’t found through alternation but through integration. Through integration, we honor the tension between who we were and who we are becoming. And under this Full Moon, that tension becomes a bridge — not a barrier. Let it lead you back to the part of yourself that’s been waiting to return. The one who still knows how to love, how to hope and how to begin again.
