It belongs to the Quartz family and displays a brecciated structure where fragments of tiger's eye and Hawk'S Eye have been broken apart and naturally reformed through geological processes, cementing angular pieces into swirling, storm-like patterns. Discovered in 1962 by sid pieters, it was named in his honor and represents a rare geological occurrence. The chatoyancy, often called the tempest effect, results from light reflecting off the fibrous inclusions of riebeckite and Crocidolite that remain intact within the Silica matrix.
